There’ll come a day when I am old When my memory fades and my hair’s gone grey When I’m reminiscing ‘bout days gone by and how fast the years just slipped away And on that day when I am old I’ll look back on all the things I did There’ll be some good times and there’ll be bad But it’ll be a life well lived ‘Cause when I’m old I don’t want any regrets ‘Bout all the things I did and the life that I led I’ll be content that day when I finally go Cause I’ll have made the best of my time here on earth So from today I’m gonna live my life Like every day could be my last no more waiting for what’s ahead no more wishing for what has passed ‘Cause when I’m old I don’t want any regrets ‘Bout all the things I did and the life that I led I’ll be content that day when I finally go Cause I’ll have made the best of my time here on earth I’ve only got one life to live So I’m not gonna waste it away I’ve only got one life to live, one life to live ‘Cause when I’m old I don’t want any regrets ‘Bout all the things I did and the life that I led I’ll be content that day when I finally go Cause I’ll have made the best of my time here on earth So while I‘ve got this time I won’t waste it away So when I’m old I’m proud of the life that I made Each day’s a gift that’s much more precious than gold And I’m gonna make the best of my time here on earth

Like the moment the moon eclipses the sun, like the second the ball hits the net Like the moment the wheels touch the runway or the juncture when life becomes death Like the instant the clock strikes the hour Like the the feeling of deja vu Some things last for an instant but time stands still when I’m with you Like the scent on the breeze after the rain like the moment you fall asleep Like the second an earthquake shakes the ground and a siren echoes through the streets Like the flash of the sun through a gap in the clouds and the world just feels brand new Some things last for an instant but time stands still when I’m with you When I’m with you I want each second to last an hour When I’m with you I treasure every single day When I’m with you I savour every minute like a glass of sweet red wine and time as we know it seems to fade away Like a summer that’s gone in the blink of an eye like the taste of honey on your lips Like the bang of a firework in the night that makes your heart skip a beat Like a butterfly that lives for only one short day but lives a life so true Some things last for an instant but time stands still when I’m with you When I’m with you I want each second to last an hour When I’m with you I treasure every single day When I’m with you I savour every minute like a glass of sweet red wine and time as we know it seems to fade away Like the moment the moon eclipses the sun, like the second the ball hits the net Like the moment the wheels touch the runway or the juncture when life becomes death Like the instant the clock strikes the hour Like the the feeling of deja vu Some things last for an instant but time stands still when I’m with you Some things last for an instant but time stands still when I’m with you

I remember some years ago The night the city was covered in snow We wrapped up warm and rushed out the door I’d never seen such a blizzard before We headed south past Finsbury Square The streets so quiet in the cold night air Like a Christmas card from long ago The dome of St Paul’s was dusted with snow We built a snowman on London Wall He looked so at home in the freezing cold When a bus slid past adrift on the ice and sailed right into a traffic light There hasn’t been so much snow since then I wonder if it’ll come round again Like a Christmas card from long ago The dome of St Paul’s was dusted with snow That magic night when all the world turned white I see it in my dreams every Christmas Eve You held my hand in that winter wonderland Now all I have of you are memories, just memories I remember some years ago The night the city was covered in snow From Chancery Lane to Highbury Hill All was hushed in the winter chill The pavements sparkled frosty white, And shining there in the pale moonlight like a Christmas card from long ago The dome of St. Paul’s was dusted with snow like a Christmas card from long ago The dome of St. Paul’s was dusted with snow

There once lived a man who knew everything, everything there was to know All of the puzzles and riddles, he’d worked them all out long ago He had answers to all of the questions we’ve been asking since the dawn of time Like “why do we dream when we fall asleep?” and “where do we go when we die?” He wrote it all down in a book on life That took him a hundred years to write And life and death and all in between Were nothing to the man who knew everything Then one day the man who knew everything finished his book on life He closed the cover and put down his pen and reached to turn off the light He sat for a while in the darkness when he realised something felt wrong Now he knew everything there was to know the meaning of life had all gone He’d written it down in his book on life That took him a hundred years to write But life and death and all in between Meant nothing to the man who knew everything And the man who had written the book on life Sat in the dark and he cried and cried ‘Cause life and death and all in between Meant nothing to the man who knew everything No life and death and all in between Meant nothing to the man who knew everything

My father told me that over the moon, was a great big planet with oceans blue with forests of green and mountains white there beyond over the moon And on that planet you would find, a strange-looking people they called mankind they came in all sizes, colours, and creeds there beyond over the moon Over the moon, over the moon, You wouldn’t believe what’s over the moon The people travelled over land and sea And they turned on each other when they couldn’t agree They conquered and vanquished and razed the land There beyond over the moon Now the great big planet with oceans blue Lies there in shadow, broken and bruised, The people, I’m told, have made for the stars There beyond over the moon Over the moon, over the moon, You wouldn’t believe what’s over the moon But go outside on a cold dark night And look above to the evening sky There’s a glimmering light shining in the gloom There beyond over the moon There’s a glimmering light shining in the gloom There beyond over the moon

Amber Eyes 03:55
Chill in the air on the harvest moon I’m leaving this town not a day too soon Maybe it’s just the time of year World’s on the move but I’m still right here Maybe it’s just some autumn dream But the memories rise like coffee cup steam And at every turn it’s those eyes I find So hard to know who’s been left behind Amber eyes, as the leaves turn gold Amber eyes, when I’m walking alone Amber eyes, I’m frozen in long gone times But I’m golden there with your amber eyes on mine Every fifth of November I think of that night How the fireworks exploded and lit up your eyes I held you so close and our love kept us warm Like a fire burning bright it held out the cold As the nights drew in Jack Frost came to stay And put out the fire that you and I’d made We said our farewells on a cold winter’s eve Though I still feel the embers burning in me Amber eyes, as the leaves turn gold Amber eyes, when I’m walking alone Amber eyes, I’m frozen in long gone times But I’m golden there with your amber eyes on mine Yes I’m golden there with your amber eyes on mine

Morning Sun 03:31
I’m always awake round 4am when the streetlamps flicker and spark I lie there and think ‘bout who I could have been if I’d had just a little more luck You don’t get much sleep when you’re out on the street in the glare of the neon lights And when I see the morning sun I know I made it through another night I know I made it through another night The streets fill up with the break of day and it’s time to pack my things The dustman comes by with a joke or two and the busker starts to sing Morning turns to afternoon and the day soon fades away And when I see the evening sun I know I made it through another day I know I made it through another day What has the sky got in store for us? Will it be sunshine or rain? What has the world got in store for me? Is it my lucky day? And when I see the evening sun I know I made it through another day I know I made it through another day

A spaceship went to Mars the other day Carrying the flag, a new frontier for man And as the ship touched down a great big cheer went up And someone said, “the universe is ours” Cause we’ve dived right down to the bottom of the ocean And conquered every mountain there is to climb Now we’re looking to the stars cause nothing’ll ever be enough ‘Til every corner of the universe is ours The universe is ours The universe is ours We’re a speck of dust suspended in a sunbeam A grain of sand in the hourglass of time We think that we’re the gods of the sun, the moon, the stars But really nothing in the universe is ours The universe is ours The universe is ours

Isn’t it funny what grown ups say? Aren’t they strange, the games that grown ups play? Isn’t it funny what they try to hide? There’s nothing stranger than grown up life Wouldn’t life be easier if we were more like kids? Cause they’re not afraid to to say just how it is Wouldn’t it be simpler if we could speak our minds And try to be more honest in grown up life ‘Cause when we are young it comes quite natural to say just what you think To let it all pour out and hold nothing back And though the truth can hurt it ain’t half as painful as a lie Cause with the truth at least you know just where you stand Wouldn’t life be better if we just said how we feel Instead of keeping all of our emotions concealed Try to be more open ‘bout what’s happening inside Things would be much simpler in grown up life When we are young it comes quite natural to say just what you think To let it all pour out and hold nothing back And though the truth can hurt it ain’t half as painful as a lie Cause with the truth at least you know just where you stand Isn’t it funny what grown ups say? Aren’t they strange, the games that grown ups play? Isn’t it funny what they try to hide? There’s nothing stranger than grown up life No there’s nothing stranger than grown up life

Disneyland 04:00
When I was just little maybe five or six We all went to Disneyland, mum and dad and us kids Guess my dad got a pay rise ‘cause it can’t have been cheap Taking us to Disneyland, the land of my dreams We went on the rides and we met Mickey Mouse But I was much too scared to see the haunted house It was just smoke and mirrors but it was real enough to me Back there in Disneyland, the land of my dreams Take me to Disneyland where the sun always shines Where it’s happy and the sky’s always blue Take me there where life’s perfect though it’s all make believe Oh Disneyland I’m dreaming of you We walked all day long till our feet got sore But I didn’t wanna leave till I’d seen it all From the tinny piped music to the bubblegum ice-cream It was all there in Disneyland, the land of my dreams Take me to Disneyland where the sun always shines Where it’s happy and the sky’s always blue Take me there where life’s perfect though it’s all make believe Oh Disneyland I’m dreaming of you I had no idea it was all made of wood And the fairytale castle had a fibreglass roof That all of the characters were played by machines I fell for Disneyland, the land of my dreams Take me to Disneyland where the sun always shines Where it’s happy and the sky’s always blue Take me there where life’s perfect though it’s all make believe Oh Disneyland I’m dreaming of you Oh Disneyland I’m dreaming of you

This is the start of a brand new day It’s time to get up, time to change my ways I’ll shake off the dust of all my mistakes Cause this is the start of a brand new day This is the dawn of a better me Gonna be the person I know I can be Won’t hide from the light where I’ll never be seen Cause this is the dawn of a better me I can see the sun rising, gold in the morning sky I can see it shining out the way I can hear a voice inside me saying things are gonna be alright So I’ve made up my mind to treat myself more kind And I’m gonna start the rest of my life today It’s time to take courage It’s time to change my ways It’s time to shake off these worries Cause it’s a brand new day, it’s a brand new day This is the start of a brand new day It’s time to get up, time to change my ways I’ll shake off the dust of all my mistakes Cause this is the start of a brand new day Yeah, this is the start of a brand new day

about

Ed Blunt London, UK

Ed's lyrics hold a mirror to the millennial experience, from swiping right for love in the digital age to arriving (fashionably) late to adulthood.

His genre-blurring songs, likened to Paul Simon, James Taylor and Randy Newman, are tales for the 21st century rich in unfiltered truths and his signature dry humour.
